Saint Arunagirinathar was a revered 15th-century Tamil poet-saint and one of the greatest devotees of Lord Murugan. Born in Tiruvannamalai, his life was transformed through divine grace, leading him from worldly suffering to spiritual enlightenment. His journey became a shining example of devotion, redemption, and unwavering faith.
Inspired by Lord Murugan, Arunagirinathar dedicated his life to composing sacred hymns that continue to guide and inspire devotees across generations.
Contribution to Thirupugazh
Following his spiritual awakening, Arunagirinathar travelled to many sacred shrines and composed the timeless hymns known as Thirupugazh. Renowned for their poetic beauty, rhythmic richness, and deep spiritual wisdom, these hymns remain among the greatest treasures of Tamil devotional literature.
Even today, Thirupugazh is sung in temples, homes, and devotional gatherings around the world, preserving the saint’s legacy and spreading the message of devotion to Lord Murugan.
